This formation is located west of Paint Mines Rd. and not part of the Paint Mines Interpretive Park, which is east of the road. It was taken before the park was incorporated by El Paso County.

One thing I've learned from taking sunset photos is to be patient. I ended up with several great images from this same view and evening. The darker it got, the more vivid and beautiful the colored sky became.
