Located near Telluride, Colorado, the Alta Lake Campground is next to the largest of three lakes in the area. This one is within walking distance of the campground and is the second largest of the tree lakes.
Although it is over a mile hike to Catamount Creek, which forms these falls from the Catamount Reservoir, the hike is worth it. This is just one of many falls created by the creek , located off the Thomas Trail, near the town of Green Mountain Falls, Co. The golden reflection in the water is from a large rock off camera that was brightly lit by the rising sun.
Autumn is the best time to visit this area near Cottonwood Lake and Cottonwood Pass. The area is accessed by taking West Main St. out of Buena Vista, which s Hwy. 306, west to Hwy. 343, which takes you to Cottonwood Lake. Follow Cottonwood Creek from the lake and you will find many such views as you see in this image.
